Nick Skenderian is the Director of Program Development at Trauma Resource Institute in Claremont, California. He has a Master’s in Global Health (with an emphasis in global mental health) from the University of Copenhagen and he’s have been working with TRI since 2014. Before that, he worked with the WHO (World Health Organisation) in mental health and health policy.
He’s had the fortunate opportunity to see the impact that Community Resiliency Model (CRM) has on individuals and communities all around the world (recently, he and the TRI team were in Belfast to train staff in the Victims and Survivors Services and the Forum for Cities in Transition). The CRM uses the human nervous system as the main portal for healing and in this way, TRI has seen the acceptability of this model across cultures, creeds, age spectrum, etc., and has also seen that it can, in many ways, circumvent the stigma that goes hand-in-hand with mental health.
