  • Biomass energy results from organic material from plants and animals, including crops, waste wood, and trees. Burning biomass releases chemical energy as heat, generating electricity through a steam turbine. Biomass can also be converted into biogas or biofuel gas.

1992:

The UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, marks an important step towards global recognition of sustainable energy.

January 26, 2009:

2011:
