Being Brilliant and Human: Unusually Energized!

“Being Brilliant and human” curates and shares human, practical, and realistic approaches to life and work for those who are following their own path and are juggling multiple projects or streams of focus.

It is that time again and I use the "write newsletter" calendar reminder to take the time to reflect on the last month, how I am feeling, and a little bit about why. Self-coaching if you will….

Sometimes the focus for this letter just falls out of my head. There is a feeling or theme to what I am reading. This month, not so much. However, it has been a busy summer for me, and whilst many may feel tired or worn out, it has energised me beyond what I imagined.

I am not going out and socialising busy, I am focussed and purposeful with work busy and it has made me realise that having a full calendar is my happy place, being productive busy, not busywork busy. 😮

So as you can imagine, my article/blog reading has been sparse this month, but I am back in the joy of reading books and have been recommended so many that have been great, I have plenty to recommend over the next few months.

I hope that Autumn is falling into place for you and as the dust is settling, you are seeing things working out for you in the right way! 🧗‍♀️

Warmest Wishes

Intentional connection in the digital office

Banging the drum of fully remote still being full of connection. Especially being able to connect with people who may not be able to attend offices easily. The serendipity of in office "bumps" is a myth. Leaders need to learn how to measure progress and success in different ways. As ever Seth Godin says it well.

Just do it!

I love it when I come across advice that I would give, but with writing that is better than I can do. We often spend time thinking we aren't able to do things, but until you try, you don't know. This is a more practical advice than 'just do it!'

The Lonely Century (on Amazon)

This month, listening, we know the theory so well, but this is a reminder to put it into practice. I have reflected on my listening skills as a result and trying not to interrupt people (which is especially hard with video calls and bad connections). I am building my patience now for the long-winded stories that people tell….And most importantly, active listening when Tamsin speaks to me, so she feels heard. (work in progress 🙄)
