Thinking about how paradox of boundaries creates freedom

I hope you are able to do things that bring you joy and you can be grateful for every day.

As I write this, I am thinking of those things for me, and friendship is top of my list. I am fortunate to have had some great support and virtual coffees on a regular basis in these crazy times. I am very happy to have more, if you fancy a virtual coffee, let me know!

As someone who creates structure around most of what I do (and who I be 😊) and compartmentalises my work and personal live religiously, I have taken comfort in this quote from David Sherry:

"In a world where there are no boundaries, being able to draw them for yourself is a superpower."

Now that work and home have bled into our homes so abruptly and absolutely, I have been helping a few people create boundaries and free themselves to focus on what is important to them, through practical energy management and expectation setting (and how to say no).

And that is where the paradox lay.

By giving yourself boundaries either with time, effort, attention and/or enjoyment, you make space for what is important. If you don’t create boundaries for yourself, who will?

I read this very quickly and it puts a lot of things in to perspective when you read about how people are raised and how much it affects. It made me reflect about how much we take for granted, down to how we think about the world and others and that these things can't just be removed by moving to a different culture. We have to respect our differences in learning, background and understand our privilege.
