Sustainable Cities

The latest data from the UN says that 68% of the world’s population is projected to live in urban areas by 2050. To accommodate this, our cities, which are made up of finely balanced ecosystems, are going to need to flex and adapt to accommodate this projected urban growth.

We’re living in an era of unprecedented population growth: the current average population increase is estimated at 83 million people per year. This will have a great impact on the social, environmental and economic aspects of our cities, and so innovative policies as well as a collective goal to be mindfully aware of our actions and their associated impacts will be key.

Housing, green spaces, sustainable travel, education, healthcare and employment are all areas of key consideration: not only should these be led from the top by National Governments, but they should be supported by the individual, (reinforcing Trvst’s ethos of connecting diverse individuals to achieve real change). Great cities should be achieving smart growth, doing more with less and winning support for change. Advances in technology will also help our cities to become “smarter”.

Here’s some of our latest projects, actions and news from across our network under our sustainable cities field of action. We bring together corporations, philanthropists, investors and engaged citizens to co-create new solutions through engaging projects, collective actions and showcasing inspiring and thought – provoking initiatives for change.
